My love affair with food
Cookies for Christmas
Shortbread Cookie Receipe: 2 ½ cups Flour ½ cup sugar 1 cup softened "real" butter Whip butter and sugar, add first 2 cups of flour using low speed – don’t overmix! Add remaining flour (and extra if needed) just until dough becomes crumbly. Don’t want it soft enough to form a solid ball. And don’t overmix – too much with an electric beater will make the cookies hard and flat. Take the dough and press onto a cookie sheet – I like to use parchment paper. Lightly press into a square – lightly! Sprinkle with colored sugar if you want. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes – until the edges of the square are lightly browned. While still warm, cut into squares – a pizza cutter works great! Let cool thoroughly before breaking the cut squares apart. |
Vinsetta Garage
Belly happy thanks to Vinsetta Garage on Woodward Ave in Berkeley.
Ordered: Baby Kale Salad, I substituted chili rubbed steak for bacon...no explanation needed bacon wins every time.
My thoughts: Creamy dill dressing with bacon rocks. If you are a fan of either ingredient previously mentioned you will delight in this flavor packed dish. They have amazing mac and cheese and the comfort food choices go on and on. They do have gluten free options. If you're on a diet you will have a hard time sticking to your guns if you visit here!
Atmosphere: The food is awesome and the restaurant decor makes this a fun lunch or dinner. This is the original automotive garage flipped restaurant. It has the trendiness of Royal Oak and the Hipster-ness of Detroit.
